The One Thing Preventing You From Ranking Up
If you want to truely take your game to the next level, there are a few things you can try to improve on. You can work on mechanics, practice different techniques, and increase your versatility - but these are things that you may have tried and they still might not have gotten you to where you want to be. According our world class boosters, most people are focusing on the wrong things to take their game to the next level.
So, what is the one thing you are missing that is keeping you at a low rank? It’s your team cooperation. No matter how far you go, you will always reach a ceiling if you cannot learn to work with your teammates. The ability to control the battlefield by coordinating teamwork will outweigh any mechanical prowess out there.
We understand how hard this can be to work on. Managing your team is often an underdeveloped skill that doesn’t get talked about enough in video games. But if you are serious about becoming the best, it is something your are going to need to improve upon.
When we asked one of our most accomplished League of Legends booster (who has been Challenger for 4 straight seasons, and been involved with the LCS Academy eSports) for his opinion on the matter:
"If I never developed my team cooperation and shot-calling skills, I would have never have made it this far. I would be a good player for sure, maybe Diamond off of just pure mechanics. But I would have never been great."
A well-coordinated team will always beat a team that is struggling to cooperate. You can synchronize map movements better, and setup strong ability combinations.
Step up your game to the next level by being a leader. Identify what the key objectives are to winning and start asking these questions:
- How do you play to your team composition's strengths?
- What are the key threats to look out for on the enemy team?
- What will be the major obstacle that determines the outcome of the game?
Make sure all your teammates know what these are before the game even begins. Not only will the help them become focused, but it will also organically start creating a sense of teamwork between each other from the very beginning.
We’ve all been in games when our teammate is incredibly toxic or rude. Maybe they are always this way, maybe they are just tilted from their last game. No matter what the case, you cannot let these players keep you down. Admittedly, some ranks are prone to being filled with bad players. If you think this is the case, try sending in a boost request to get out of low ranks. This is an easy way to start getting into less chaotic matches and match with more experienced players.
It does not have to be like this forever. As you reach higher ranks, the quality of your teamates will improve and there will be more cohesion between teammates. People that get to the highest ranks of the game understand just how important it is to communicate and work together. You and your teammates all want the same thing: a victory. Be the glue that helps them work together and smash the enemy.
As you climb the leaderboards, shift your focus onto learning and adapting. After a boost in rank, you’ll want to become familiar with the skill level around you. You might notice that people are a lot more open to listening to you if you have a high win percentage. Figure out the art of controlling the battlefield with communication, and you’ll be dominating every game you play.
